My daughter in a field of corn. We had a day out to take some photographs together and then went to Starbucks for a drink. I thought a few shots in the middle of this field would be fun. They turned out beautifully. A few more.

This is a day late because my Grandmother, Olive Kipfer, passed away on Friday, June 23rd, 2006. I was able to take my wife and four kids to see her on Thursday and she passed away at 4am on Friday at 94 years old. I took this picture last December (another is here).
We all loved her very much. She had 3 kids, 10 grandkids, 17 great grandkids, and one great great granddaughter. She lived a full life and never one time neglected to tell us that she was praying for us.

Shane & Shane at the Southern Baptist Convention during the afternoon session of the Pastor's Conference. They were amazing live.
My two oldest boys love their big sister. And since I've been gone for a week, I thought a second Phriday Photo could focus on my kids. Well, three of them at least. Here's the fourth.

I forgot about this photograph. I took it in Kentucky several weeks ago and discovered it again two days ago. I love it and don't know how I could have missed it. :) Here's another one I missed.

As you noticed, this is also my new blog header. But the whole picture is too cool to pass up. I was out driving about a few nights back and I noticed a thunderstorm approaching. So I drove out of Woodstock to a lonely place and took 600+ pictures over the next 1 1/2 hours. Getting a picture of lightning is no easy task. I also like this lightning picture, and this one.

We had a beautiful Spring day yesterday. It was in the mid 70's with an every couple of hours heavy downpour. I took this around dusk in our backyard. It's obviously a path made from stones and it was just after a rainfall. The temps are supposed to get in the mid 80's by Saturday, 90 by Sunday, and stay in the mid 80's early next week. Very cool for Memorial Day weekend.

On the airplane soon after takeoff, flying from Seattle to Chicago, I noticed Mt. Rainier and had to try to capture the view. It was amazing, as you can see. I played with this photo a bit to darken it and I added a sepia tone.

I'm flying right now out of Seattle. I set this to post on Friday. This is a trashed wall of a building (the last wall standing) and the sun peeking through. It's across the street from Mars Hill Church.

Web Sudoku: I'm addicted.
WorldMapper: A new way of seeing the world.
It's Jerry Time: Great videos...well, you need to watch it to understand. Very cool.
King of the Hill and the Megachurch: A must see, hilarious and true.
It's Lonely Here: The photography of Christopher Wilson. I found him after buying the Band of Horses CD (which is fantastic) and seeing three pictures of his included in the CD packaging.
Looper: Photoblog of Devyn, who lives and captures the Loop in Chicago
Da Bulls: Oh yeah baby. They will still lose, but this makes it fun.

This barn was beautiful with the sun screaming in over the rural KY mountains. As I snapped this picture I noticed the cows were beginning to charge toward me. I think they wanted something to eat.
Other Friday photos: Joe Thorn, Timmy, Alex, Joe K (some of these guys are at a conference in KY, so they may not have a chance to put up a pic today)

The bridge from the 18th green to the club house is flooded, but add a sunset and a slower shutter speed and you get a cool effect. This is in Pontiac, IL, my hometown. View this on my Flickr.

On the road back from Kentucky we passed a smorgasbord of old rusted farm equipment. These two tractors were some of the most interesting pieces there, and made for a nice colorful picture.
Also check out Timmy's Pic of the Week as well as Alex Forrest's pic. Glad Alex has joined in our Friday fad. I'll put a link to Joe Thorn's when he puts up his pic. Joe said he hates me and doesn't want to put a pic up today. Actually he has some server issue, the big baby. He just called me from a corn field. :)
Back Home
We're home after a very long day of driving. I have many new pictures from the trip, though most are more art focused than "moments to remember." God's grace sent us to the Louisville P.F. Changs for lunch. My parents bought us pizza for dinner as we stopped through Pontiac, IL to retrieve our cat (Calvin). It was an exhausting day after an exhausting week, but we are so encouraged by what God has done to us and through us on this great trip.
More tomorrow.

My daughter resting on the railing at the multi-story Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL. Love the reflection, the distance, the depth of focus, the lights above, and the blue hues. And of course her face is just beautiful.

A picture across the tops of a couple of Chicago River bridges, and a couple of guys who are probably heading back to work after lunch. I rode the train into the city on Wednesday to meet a friend and was able to snap a few pics.

This is a long exposure (8 seconds) night shot of a sod farm in sepia. It was very, very lightly misting and you can see the bit of shine on the farm equipment. You can also see a different perspective pic of the farm.

It was a somewhat warm night on Saturday. There was a low, lingering fog outside the back of our house. This is our church parking lot light pushing around this tree at about 11pm. It was a beautiful night for interesting pics.
