I haven't been breaking out the d50 enough lately, but that hasn't ever stopped me from posting some Phriday Photos. Here are a couple of my favorite recent photos of my wife, Molly. She is the most beautiful woman I've ever met.

A mushroom cavity in a tree outside our house, and my son, Daniel, napping.

We took a family trip to the pumpkin patch last Saturday. It was a blast, as usual. I grabbed a few photos along the way. The top photo is Elijah, who turned 6 on Monday, putting his best foot forward. The bottom photo is Daniel (3) who couldn't keep his eyes off the chicks.
Camera and Seeing

My daughter and I went out to take a few pictures the other day. Always a fun time. Looking forward to capturing the full spectrum of fall colors.

My youngest son is chasing his older brother to school. It's a good thing he's too young to go to school, you know, since he can't figure out how to use a backpack and all.

This is my mom, Margo. A couple of weeks ago she was diagnosed with cancer, for the second time. Breast cancer (2003) has become liver, lung, lymph node, & bone cancer. Please pray for her.

Here are a couple of older photos. The first are some railroad tracks leading into Woodstock, IL and the second is the beautiful ceiling decor at the Old Court House in Woodstock.

The first photo is of my oldest two kids, Sarah and Jack, as they play at a friend's house on Labor Day. The bottom photo is taken in downtown Woodstock, IL late at night after Labor Day thunderstorms.

I have been completely swamped and just haven't had time to get out and work on photography. I hope that will change in the weeks ahead, but for now you will have to enjoy some older photos that are some of my favorites. The first is a sod farm at night before spring, and the second is a rural highway in Northern IL.

We took a train trip to downtown Chicago this week. These photos were taken at the famous Cloud Gate (the bean) which is a giant bean-shaped mirror. It looks like this (not my pic). It's an amazing sight that you need to find if you come to Chicago. It's often photographed and starts looking ordinary after too many views. But my daughter thought up this angle and I love it. We also had our picture taken at Buckingham Fountain and got to watch the sunset in the city.

Two pictures from my evening fishing on Lake Geneva (WI) with my buddy, Dan. We are going again on Saturday morning, leaving at like 5:30am, and I should be bringing at least one of my sons. Should be an awesome experience.

This is my middle son, Elijah, getting ready to jump off the high dive at our local pool. He's only 5, but he is the child voted most likely to get injured in a base jumping accident. Not that we are taking him base jumping or anything.
Here's a photo of our 7 year old, Jack, through the steps of the high dive (then he jumps). He is the child voted most likely to eat spinach and beat up Bluto.

I took this picture a few weeks ago. It was a spectacular day so I took my daughter, Sarah, out for some father/daughter photography time. She uses an nice 3 megapixel camera and I use my Nikon d50 SLR. It's one of our favorite things to do together. Here's my favorite picture of Sarah (taken in January, was a Phriday Photo on 4.7.06)...

For our 13th anniversary my wife and I spent the night in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (about 20 minutes North of our home in Woodstock, IL). We ate great food, walked hand-in-hand around town, talked for hours, and took a beautiful sundown boat tour around the lake. This photo was taken on that tour. The views around the lake were beautiful, but not nearly as beautiful as my bride is on any day of the week. I submit into evidence the most gorgeous view on the boat (well, half gorgeous)...
Friday Photo Group
Kevin Cawley has done Friday photo lovers a service. Joe and I started the Friday Photo thing a couple of months ago (actually, I think Joe might have started it). Kevin Cawley has created a Flickr group so all Friday Photos can be found in one place. Great idea. From Kevin's blog...
Earlier in the summer, I felt inspired to follow Joe & Steve's example by featuring one of the pictures I had taken during the week on my blog each Friday (not because I possess a fraction of their skill in photography, but because I thought it was fun).
As the number of people continues to increase that are posting "Friday Photos" on their blogs, I wanted to make it easy for us to aggregate all the "Friday Photo" entries in one location. Enter the new Friday Photo Group @ Flickr. I've set it up as an open group (eight members so far), and all are welcome to join and post one picture each Friday (read the rules here). Now, instead of cluttering up your Friday photo with thirteen links, you can just link the Friday Photo Group. Spread the word.

My middle son (our third child) is soaking wet because he's trying to stay cool on a scorching summer day. He's a good boy and tends to make the most interesting faces. See more of his expressions here, here, here, and here.
Phriday is for Photos: Special Edition
Every day is Photo Phriday when a picture is this good.
Joe Thorn and I were photographed by Olan Mills at the Southern Baptist Convention. I just received it in the mail and couldn't resist scanning it and putting it up. The photographer thought it was funny, but a few SBC'rs walking by the booth seemed a little freaked out. Imagine trying to take this pic and keep a straight face!
Some of you will be offended by it. When you are offended and choose to tell me, it won't be a surprise. So save your fingers from violently typing your thoughts and laugh with us.
I think it's unbelievably funny and still laugh out loud whenever I see it. It's really the continuation of a running joke. Enjoy!

This is my nephew hiding safely between his mother's legs. My dad was spraying water in the backyard and he was trying to stay as dry as possible. I think it turned out beautifully in sepia. Another similar photograph.

My five year old son is playing in the backyard of my parents house. His Grandpa (my Dad) is cooling him off with the hose on a very warm summer day.
