Mumford & Sons on Jools

Mumford & Sons have made the kind of record they are supposed to make...emotive, heart-on-sleeve, compelling, rollicking, and just plain fun. I've been considering writing a post about why you shouldn't feel guilty for listening to Mumford & Sons (Some indie sites are ripping them, and acting like you are an idiot if you like them). I say you should pick up Babel (or deluxe edition) and tap your feet and clap your hands, or as Jon McIntosh put it in a recent tweet...

Leave your shirt on Jon, but I hear you! :) Below are three live performances on Jools: "I Will Wait" | "Whispers In The Dark" | "Below My Feet."

Ryan Adams | "Lucky Now"

"Lucky Now" from Ryan Adams' new album, Ashes & Fire. Lyrics below.

I don’t remember were we wild and young?
All that faded into memory
I feel like somebody I don’t know
Are we really who we used to be?
Am I really who I was?

The lights will draw you in
And the dark will bring you down
And the night will break your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

Waiting outside while you find your keys
Like bags of trash in the blackening snow
City of neon and toes that freeze
We’ve got nothing and nowhere to go
We’ve got nothing and nowhere

And the lights will draw you in
And the dark will take you down
And the night will break your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

And if the lights draw you in
And the dark can take you down
And love will mend your heart
But only if you’re lucky now

I don’t remember were we wild and young?
All that’s faded into memory
I feel like somebody I don't know
Are we really who we used to be?
Am I really who I was?

SXSW | Jack White & Seasick Steve

Jack White's bus from Third Man Records rolled into SXSW for a surprise parking lot performance (hear NPR's All Songs folks explain what happened). Jack played a Buddy Holly song, a White Stripes song, and then introduced new Third Man Records recording artist, Seasick Steve who stomped and played a song with a guitar with three strings (it's the blues, baby!). Some technical glitches in the last song, but I think you'll like this. The first video is the parking lot concert. The second is Seasick Steve on Jools Holland.
