Another year, another first day of school! Love these growing and maturing and beautiful children. As a case study, you might want to note Elijah's slow growth compared to the other kids. Elijah was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in early 2015, which is the cause of his delayed growth.
2015 - Daniel (12, 7th grade), Elijah (14, Freshman), Jack (16, Junior), Sarah (18, College Freshman)
We have been thinking we are done with our yearly crazy Christmas photo now that we have one graduating high school in the spring. So we decided to go back to reenact our first in 2007. Well, we had considered something else but we HAD to do it after the Elf showed up this morning holding our old photo! Mischievous little bugger!! Merry Christmas, everyone!
Time for some Friday photos. One from vacation and one from the first day of school.
Three of the ten beautiful horses at our vacation home. We would walk right around them and pet them as we fished.
Whenever we pose the kids for the first day of school photo (and most other times, too), we end with something goofy. This is what we got. This probably represents who they are better than standing up straight and smiling!
Here's a favorite family tradition for the McCoy's...first day of school photos. Here's our new one taken this morning. I've added previous years below.
My brother, Scott McCoy, took a "Back To School" photo that has gotten some buzz and was actually interviewed by CNN. It's not my sense of humor, but it's exactly what I would expect from Scott. And it's a well-executed. CNN/HLN is supposed to run it soon, maybe on a morning show. Pretty cool.
Do you have children? Would you like to give them more fun in studying? Do you want to help them in ace-ing their tests at school? If so, you should definitely continue reading, as there are amazing things your child can learn from you! After reading this article, you will be a personal mind-mapping coach for your child.
This isn’t the time to wait or debate. Hell is hot, and forever is a long time. Lost people need to be reached, churches need to be planted, and nations need to be evangelized. Let’s have some amazing, Jesus-empowered stories to tell our grandkids.
You worked at it. If you guide them right your kids will work at it, too. And one day they might even take a killer, life-altering photo and thank you for it.
Help me—grant me grace to go with you into the sufferings of friends and family; sit longer in the groans and birth pangs of my own heart (Rm. 8:23); and engage more fully in the injustices and brokenness of my community. This is who you are and this is what you’re doing; for your name is Redeemer.
Mom died in 2007 of breast cancer, so it's impossible for me not to be "aware." But just to be sure I didn't forget, my daughter made me wear this for a few minutes today (outside), and my wife is begging me to wear it to the "Pink Out" high school football game tonight. I'm sorry for whatever trauma this may cause.
Trying to capture a memorable moment during a sporting event isn't easy. You never know when it's coming. You make guesses and take lots of pictures that are just ok at best. I think I got a good one with Elijah running in a cross country meet. You can also check out the rest of my photography.
I enjoy catching moments in which the mundane becomes interesting. This was a touristy spot in a touristy city with my touristy kid with a touristy dad with a touristy camera. But a mild post-processing filter plays with the light and makes it interesting to me.
Two photos: First, Sarah fishing while on vacation in Branson, Missouri. We were surrounded by storms. Second, Sarah can't just let our first day of school photo be normal. She's a treat!
