One of the great albums of 2012 comes from Anais Mitchell, Young Man In America. It will be high on my Best Albums of 2012 list. She just played a Tiny Desk Concert. This is an artist who is great at her craft. Enjoy!
I saw Damien Jurado in concert a few years back. His band was opening for Okkervil River. The show was compelling, but I really didn't dig into his music right away. I liked his 2009 album, Caught In The Trees. But his latest release, Saint Bartlett, is what made me a fan. Here's his recent Tiny Desk Concert. Hear Ya calls Jurado "wildly underrated." Maybe so. If you are looking for slick, super-polished, and ready to sell--this isn't it. It's a dude, his guitar, and good songwriting. Enjoy!
If you haven't taken my advice to pick up the new self-titled Middle Brother album, I get it. You aren't rich. You can't buy everything out there that is supposed to be "good." Neither can I. But. BIG BUT. Just watch this video of them (& friends) singing their opening track, "Daydreaming." Then try to resist buying it. That's all I ask.
